Parachute Party

This was a weird one this morning.

Most of the details are fuzzy, but the part that I remember was flying in an airplane going “to school”.  School was some kind of post-secondary education.  It’s focus was unclear, but it wasn’t a conventional college or university as it had a specific focus of some kind.  Anyway, I’m in the plane and I casually say, “See you all at school!” and then I leap from an open door.

Turns out I have a parachute on.  But I’m so rad I’m like Patrick Swayze in Point Break and I’ve got the actual parachute out of its pack and I’m holding it in my hand.  I’m even waiting for the minimum altitude to let it go because I’m that hard core.  The plane wasn’t that high to start out with so I let the chute go and it sucks at opening, naturally.  There’s a little bit of panic as it flaps around above me with no intent of preventing my death but it turns out to just be dramatic tension as it soon opens, a mere hundred feet from the ground, and I pull the steering handles and instantly zoom upwards at a frightening speed.  I feel the Gs and my ears popping as I hurtle through the sky on an upwards angle.  What glee!  What fun!  It’s all so overwhelming I have trouble breathing but it’s simultaneously the best sensation in the world.

Ahead is a landing strip.  I zoom downwards and land, running my little feet so I don’t faceplant.  Naturally, this is the landing strip that lies before the school.  This school is like some weird Hogwarts school for cool adrenaline junkies (like myself, obviously) and it’s got classes like Surfing 101 and Taking It To The Limit 305.  The details from here on out get progressively fuzzier, but I do remember feeling “awesome” and “rad” and zooming from class to class on my parachute…which apparently can just zoom around.

There was a profound sadness when I woke up and realized that it was all a dream and not real life.
